The “Revolution will not be Televised!”
Welcome to the RealTalk Revolution: a combination of intimate thoughts and rousing converations on all things Christian: from Theology and Adversity to News, Evangelism, Politics and Prosperity. RealTalk is about presenting our faith and our beliefs, while remaining within the context and edge of reality.
Let me begin by saying that the “Reveloution will not be televised!” (I’ve just always wanted to say that!) But, thankfully it continues to reach new levels – blog sites, online radio, ministry opportunities, etc – and prayerfully, it will continue to flourish into the fullness of what would have it to be. The sky is the limit! There is a passage in Exodus 4:12, which can be used to describe the basic premise of RealTalk.
“Go, and I will be with your mouth, and I will teach you what you are to say.”
In this text, God is explaining the great and wonderful design that he has for Moses’ life. Meanwhile, Moses is looking for any way that he can, to get out of fulfilling this purpose. Man! Do you know how important purpose is to your life? It is what defines you, what drives you, and what connects you to everyone else. Without purpose, we are just here… on earth, aimlessly living unfulfilled lives. Yet Moses offers God excuse after excuse as to why he can not do what He wants him to do. Finally God gets fed up with the exchange and makes the above statement. There are three things that God says in this one statement that most basically sum up what RealTalk is all about, in other words, our ’purpose’.
1. God says “GO!” –
You see, RealTalk is not just about talking! It is about executing actionable faith. In other words, it is about movement. It is about putting foot to mouth and actually doing what we are supposed to for the kingdom of God. It is not just believing what we say, and saying what we mean (lots of people do that): it is about living what we say and meaning how we live.
2. God says “… and I will be with your mouth…” –
Secondly, RealTalk is not about saying just anything, but it is about saying the things that God wants us to say! It is allowing him, literally, control over our lives so that His message becomes our own. It is not about us being seen but it is about allowing the light from the lighthouse to shine through us, so that only remnants of him come out of our mouths.
3. God says “… and I will teach you what you are to say…” –
Lastly, RealTalk is about learning what God wants for us. My father is fond of the old adage, “Find ‘em ignorant – Leave ‘em ignorant!” Not so with God. That is why he has left for us a teacher and a comforter, in the person of the Holy Spirit. He longs for us to know Him on an intimate level so that we can reach our destinations and live God-purposed, and fulfilled lives.
So, my brothers and sisters, make no mistake about it: the revolution will not be televised (YET!!!) but it is here… and again, we welcome you whole-heartedly to join the RTR Movement and yes, That’s REALTALK!
